SUMMERTIME, AND THE PADDLING'S EASY....
But first, a stroll down memory lane . . .
An Ohana baker's dozen held an early morning Paddle Out for OG Ohana member Tanya Stum on Saturday, May 30. It was a beautiful morning and moving service, led out by Coach Mike Wang. Rest in Power, Tanya!
Coach Shirley's Pivot Turn Clinic
Coach Shirley hosted one of her fabled Pivot Turn Clinics soon after Tanya's Paddle Out ended. As always, lots of learning and fun was had, and lots of brief swims, presumably, for those who did not follow Coach Shirley's instruction to the letter.

Trying to follow Coach Shirley’s directions on the water
Coach Shirley hosted a second Pivot Turn Clinic on Saturday, June 20 (and will hold a third one on Saturday, July 18). After all the hard work of learning and practicing and perfecting their pivot turns (see below) was followed by . . .
Cake time! Tired paddlers were treated to some tasty cakes, in honor of Heidi’s initial appearance on planet earth. Happy Birthday, Heidi!!
Ohana Open House Paddle, Saturday, June 6
About 15 paddlers came out for a social paddle during Ohana's latest Open House on June 6. Several new paddlers (both to us and to paddling itself) joined in the fun on calm water with ideal paddling conditions. Welcome all - so glad you could come out!

Ohana on the road
Ohana members headed across the bay to Redwood City on Wednesday, June 10 to give Connor Baxter some paddle technique tips. Or were they doing the learning when not posing for pictures with the renown paddling pro? Everyone came away with new paddling insights, and Connor was supremely nice while dispensing his considerable wisdom.

Ohana in the wild...
Ohana members need to keep their eyes peeled for other members even when they are not on the water. Louie ran into Chris C. and LeeAnn at the World Cup in Santa Clara on June 13, while LeeAnn and KK ran into Dr. Babs and Jill at the Valkyries game on June 26. Hhhmmm, a pattern seems to be emerging here. Keep an eye out for LeeAnn when you go watch sports!

Paddle Trip to MLK Shoreline Park
11 Ohana members set out from Sea Trek on very calm water and headed south under the Bay Farm Island Bridge and on down to the MLK Regional Shoreline Park on Saturday, June 13. The paddlers enjoyed favorable currents and the wind at their backs for a relaxing day on the water. The MLK Shoreline Park renovated their docks and even have real bathrooms now. The park also has free parking, so don't sleep on this site as either a starting point or a destination.
Level Up Clinics (LUC) on Tuesday Nights
Coach Jo Kwas has brought back her highly acclaimed Level Up Clinics for lucky Ohana members. The first of this four-part series started on Tuesday, June 30, and focused on self-rescues, towing, and buddy paddling, as well as rescuing other people. Be sure to come out for the remaining three LUC meetings, all of which take place on Tuesday nights, 6-8pm (arrive 5:30pm). Be sure to sign up on TeamSnap.
